Alleged Attack on Convoy

The convoy of Suvendu Adhikari, Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, was allegedly attacked on Tuesday in the Khagrabari area of Cooch Behar district. Several vehicles in the convoy were damaged during the incident, leading to a tense situation. Suvendu Adhikari termed the attack completely pre-planned and claimed that his life could have been in danger if he had not been in a bulletproof vehicle.

He alleged that the attackers even tried to break the glass of the bulletproof vehicle, and this attack was not just on a political leader but on democracy itself. He described it as a conspiracy by anti-national forces and appealed to all patriots to stand united against such forces.

Serious Allegations Against Foreign Infiltrators and TMC

Suvendu Adhikari allegedly blamed foreign infiltrators for the incident and accused the attackers of being Bangladeshi Muslims mobilized by the Trinamool Congress. He claimed that the TMC incited Rohingya infiltrators in the area and used them to attack the convoy.

The BJP leader stated that the attackers used sticks and stones, damaging several vehicles in the convoy. He termed it a deep political conspiracy and demanded a fair and comprehensive investigation from the police.

Sloganeering and On-site Situation

According to reports, when Suvendu Adhikari's convoy was passing through the area, Trinamool Congress supporters showed black flags in protest and chanted slogans of "thief-thief." Subsequently, the crowd allegedly targeted the vehicles in the convoy, attacked them with sticks, and tried to block the way.

Police forces were deployed at the scene at the time of the incident, but it is alleged that the uproar and vandalism occurred in the presence of the security forces. Suvendu Adhikari was leading a protest organized by the BJP outside the Cooch Behar SP office at the time and had also submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police.

Trinamool Congress's Retaliation

The Trinamool Congress reacted sharply to the BJP's allegations, calling the attack a complete political drama. The TMC claimed that none of its workers were involved in the incident and that the entire conspiracy was a result of the BJP's internal factionalism.

Party leaders said that the opposition is exaggerating the issue for political gain and trying to hide the reality. The TMC demanded that a fair investigation be conducted into the matter and that the truth be brought to light. Currently, the police are engaged in investigating the matter and the situation is being monitored.
