Tejashwi Yadav Alleges Irregularities in Bihar Voter List Revision Process

Tejashwi Yadav has raised questions about the voter list revision process in Bihar. He has leveled serious allegations regarding the uploading of forms without documents, the inactivity of BLAs, and the silence of the commission.

Patna. The special summary revision (SSR)-2025 of the voter list, initiated by the Election Commission in preparation for the 2025 assembly elections in Bihar, has now intensified the political turmoil. Tejashwi Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in the state, has made serious allegations against the Election Commission. He stated that the process is not entirely transparent and is riddled with widespread irregularities.

Revised notification not issued despite document relaxation

Tejashwi Yadav said that despite the Supreme Court's advice, the Election Commission has not yet issued any revised notification to bring flexibility regarding documents. He questioned how the process is proceeding without the necessary documents. He alleged a lack of transparency in the addition and deletion of names in the voter list. Tejashwi also raised the question of how many forms have been uploaded without documents, and what is their validity.

Questions raised on uploading without participation

Tejashwi Yadav also asked the Election Commission whether the changes being made in the voter list are happening without the direct participation of the voter. He said that if this is the case, it raises questions about the validity of the entire process. Along with this, he also expressed the possibility of fake uploading and said that the commission is silent on this issue.

What role is the BLA getting in inspection?

The Election Commission has claimed that the participation of political parties has been ensured in this process, but Tejashwi Yadav has also questioned this. He asked whether the BLA (Booth Level Agent) has actually been given the right to inspect or is their presence limited only to registration.

Tejashwi says that if the BLA is limited to mere symbolic presence, then it is only a token participation, which weakens the foundation of democracy.

Why were the opposition's BLAs not informed?

Tejashwi Yadav alleged that in many districts, the BLAs of the opposition parties were not even informed about the process. He said that the opposition parties are being deliberately kept away from the voter verification process. This further increases the chances of discrepancies in the voter list.

Target pressure on BLO and ERO?

Another serious allegation that Tejashwi Yadav has made is that BLOs (Booth Level Officers) and EROs (Electoral Registration Officers) are being imposed with a target of more than 50% regarding changes in the voter list.

He said that if such a target is being set for these officers, it is natural that they will rush in adding or deleting names, which may lead to errors and affect the democratic process.
