Maharashtra: RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav, is facing increased political difficulties ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. On Friday, FIRs were registered against him in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, and Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The allegation is that Tejashwi Yadav used objectionable language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and shared defamatory posts on social media.
The case against Tejashwi Yadav in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra, was registered based on a complaint filed by BJP MLA Milind Ramji Narote. Simultaneously, an FIR was also registered in Shahjahanpur, UP, based on a complaint from Shilpi Gupta, the Metropolitan President of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
FIR Registered in Gadchiroli: Social Media Post Controversial
In the Gadchiroli police station, an FIR was registered against Tejashwi Yadav under sections 196(1)(A)(B), 356(2)(3), 352, and 353(2). The complaint stated that on August 22, Tejashwi Yadav made objectionable comments along with a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his X (formerly Twitter) social media handle.
The complainant, BJP MLA Milind Ramji Narote, stated that Tejashwi Yadav's post attempted to defame the image of the Prime Minister. A copy of the post was also attached as evidence in the case.
FIR in UP: Allegation of Offensive Remarks Against PM
A case was also registered against Tejashwi Yadav at the Sadar Bazar police station in Shahjahanpur, UP. The complainant, Shilpi Gupta, said that Tejashwi Yadav's offensive remarks against the Prime Minister of the country are objectionable to the entire nation. She demanded strict action against Tejashwi Yadav from the police.
The complaint stated that Tejashwi Yadav, through his social media post, not only defamed the image of the Prime Minister but also incited the political environment.
What was Tejashwi Yadav's Controversial Post?
On August 22, before PM Narendra Modi's visit to Gaya, Tejashwi Yadav posted a cartoon on his social media account. In this post, PM Modi was depicted as a shopkeeper, and the signboard of the shop read, "Famous Shop of Rhetoric."
In this post, Tejashwi Yadav asked Prime Minister Modi to account for the NDA's 20 years and his own 11 years of rule in Bihar. This post stirred up political turmoil on social media and became the basis for the registration of FIRs in both states.
