New Delhi: Congress leader Udit Raj has bly attacked the central government regarding the 130th Amendment Bill. He said that this bill is only against the opposition and many NDA leaders also do not approve of it. Giving a statement in Delhi, Udit Raj questioned how many BJP leaders have been acted against in the last 11 years. The bill is currently under consideration by the JPC and it proposes the automatic removal of the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers.

Differences regarding the 130th Amendment Bill in the Opposition and NDA

Udit Raj said in an agency interview that many members of the Congress party may support the bill on moral grounds, but there are many leaders in the NDA who do not like this bill. He believes that if a bill to remove the Prime Minister and Chief Minister is made only for the ruling party, then the dignity of democracy is questioned.

This bill has currently been sent to the JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee). At the same time, Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party are not participating in this committee. The opposition says that there are some constitutional and political issues in this bill, which need to be resolved in time.

Statement of Home Minister Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has clarified regarding this bill that the 130th Constitutional Amendment Bill will be passed in 2025. This bill proposes that the Prime Minister, Chief Minister, and Ministers be automatically removed from office if they are in custody for 30 consecutive days in cases where they face imprisonment of 5 years or more.

Amit Shah said that there is no insecurity of any kind in this bill. He clarified that even after being arrested, if bail is not granted, the person concerned will have to leave the post, and the government will not run from jail.

Opposition Expressed Concern on the Bill

The opposition believes that this bill has been brought only to target opposition leaders. Udit Raj said that the ratio of action against BJP leaders has been very low in so many years, and if this bill is implemented only for the ruling party, then it will be against the basic structure of democracy.

Meanwhile, the NDA says that the bill will apply equally, whether the person is from the ruling party or the opposition. The debate between the two sides is likely to be lengthy and controversial in Parliament.
