UPSC IAS/IFS Preliminary Exam 2025 Scheduled for May 25

UPSC Prelims 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the date for the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2025. The exam will be conducted on Sunday, May 25, 2025, across various examination centers nationwide in two shifts. The admit cards for the IAS and IFS Prelims have already been released by the commission and can be downloaded from the official website.

Scheduled Timings for First and Second Shifts

The first shift will consist of General Studies (Paper 1) from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. The second shift will feature the CSAT (Paper 2) exam from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Candidates are advised to reach the center at least one hour before the commencement of the examination.

Exam Pattern and Negative Marking

The UPSC Prelims examination will have two papers. Paper 1 will contain 100 objective-type questions on General Studies, while Paper 2 (CSAT) will have 80 questions. Each paper carries 200 marks, and candidates will have 2 hours to complete each paper. Negative marking will be implemented; 1/3 of a mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Candidates are advised against guessing answers.

Admit Card and Necessary Documents

The UPSC has released the admit cards for the IAS/IFS Preliminary Examination on upsconline.nic.in. Candidates must bring a valid photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Voter ID, Passport, or Driving License) along with their admit card to the examination center. Entry will be denied without both the admit card and a valid ID proof.

Prohibited Items

Mobile phones, smartwatches, books, notes, and any electronic devices are strictly prohibited in the examination hall. Any disciplinary action during the examination may lead to the cancellation of the candidate's candidature.
