Uttar Pradesh Implements New Rules for Subsidized Fertilizer Access
Last Updated: 11-10-2025

A new rule has been implemented in Uttar Pradesh, according to which only those farmers who are members of a cooperative society or possess a Farmer ID will be provided with subsidized fertilizer. If both these conditions are not met, farmers will have to purchase fertilizer from the market.

Key Points:

At the district magistrate level, cooperative societies are now being operated as Multipurpose Rural Cooperative Societies (BPACs).

According to the Agriculture Department, society members will be provided with 5 sacks of DAP and 7 sacks of urea per hectare.

Farmers who are not society members will need to show their Farmer ID. If they do not even have a Farmer ID, they will not receive the fertilizer.

A membership drive is also being conducted for this purpose, so that more farmers can join the societies and avail the benefits of the scheme.

Executive Officer (ADO) – Cooperative, Brajesh Kumar, has stated that farmers are being encouraged to become members.
