Weather Shift Triggers Rain, Storm Warning Across Uttar Pradesh; 31 Deaths Reported

Weather conditions in Uttar Pradesh changed abruptly, affecting the entire state amid intense heat and the Nautapa period. Strong winds, rainfall and stormy conditions disrupted daily life, prompting the weather department to issue warnings of rain, b winds, thunderstorms and lightning across all 75 districts. Authorities have been placed on alert, and districts have been instructed to undertake necessary preparedness measures.

Storms and b winds across different parts of the state over the past 24 hours caused widespread damage. According to reports from various districts, 31 people have died in incidents involving falling trees, collapsed walls, lightning strikes and other accidents. Several people were injured and are receiving treatment at hospitals. The administration has initiated the process of providing assistance to the families of the deceased.

The impact was most visible in districts of western and central Uttar Pradesh, where b winds damaged trees, electricity poles and tin sheds. Roads were blocked in several locations, and power supply remained disrupted for hours. Relief and rescue teams continue to work in affected areas.

The change in weather also affected birds and wildlife. Reports stated that a large number of birds were impacted during b winds and hailstorms. In some areas, reports emerged of nearly 500 parrots dying, raising concerns among environmental groups and the forest department.

According to the India Meteorological Department, most parts of the state recorded a marked drop in temperature. Districts that had recorded temperatures between 45 and 47 degrees Celsius a few days earlier reported a decline of 8 to 10 degrees Celsius.

Rain accompanied by b winds was recorded in several cities, including Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur and Agra. Waterlogging was reported in several places, affecting traffic movement.

The weather shift had a mixed impact on the agriculture sector. While rainfall increased soil moisture and provided relief to farmers, b winds and hailstorms raised concerns over possible damage to mango, litchi and vegetable crops. The agriculture department is assessing losses.

The Uttar Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority appealed to residents to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions. Officials advised people not to go into open fields during thunderstorms, avoid standing under trees and stay away from areas vulnerable to lightning strikes.

Weather advisories have also been issued to schools and government offices in several districts. District administrations directed emergency services to remain active round the clock, while teams from the power department, health department and urban local bodies remain on alert.

Meteorologists estimate that the prevailing weather pattern may continue over the coming days, with light to moderate rainfall, b winds and thunderstorm activity likely in several districts. Authorities are monitoring the situation and have urged residents to follow weather advisories and contact local administrations in case of emergencies.
