Vande Bharat Express Halted for Hours at Panipat Due to Technical Glitch; Passengers Transferred

The Vande Bharat Express, en route from New Delhi to Jammu, was halted for several hours at Panipat station due to a technical glitch. The railway arranged for another train for passengers after towing the malfunctioning train with a diesel engine.

New Delhi: On Monday (October 6) night, the Vande Bharat Express, heading to Jammu, experienced a technical malfunction, causing it to be detained for several hours at Panipat station. The train's motor coach unexpectedly broke down near Samalkha, inconveniencing approximately 1500-1600 passengers.

The railway summoned a diesel engine to tow the train to Panipat and then arranged for an alternative train to safely transport passengers to their destinations. Officials stated that an investigation report is being prepared to promptly rectify the technical fault and prevent similar issues in the future.

Panic Among Passengers Due to Train Malfunction

The engine of the Vande Bharat train, en route from New Delhi to Kathua, suddenly shut down while in motion. As soon as the train stopped, an atmosphere of fear and panic spread among the passengers.

Initially, passengers were informed that the train would resume its journey soon, but it was later discovered that the problem was serious. The railway promptly arranged for a diesel engine to tow the train to Panipat, ensuring the safety of the passengers.

Passengers React to Train Breakdown

Anil Sharma, a passenger on the train, stated, “Initially, we were told the train would proceed, but later a new train was dispatched. The technical fault was not anyone's mistake. The railway did a good job managing the situation.”

Anil Kumar Mandal, who was traveling from Samastipur, Bihar, to Vaishno Devi, expressed his displeasure, saying, “The train departed from Delhi but didn't even reach Ambala. It was very difficult for children and women. A complete technical inspection should have been conducted beforehand.”

Other passengers, such as Niraj and Piyush Vyas, also praised the railway's prompt action and the staff's assistance. They noted that passengers were safely transported with the arrangement of an alternative rake.

Railway's Action

The railway announced that the technical issue has been resolved and an alternative train was arranged to ensure passengers reach their destinations safely. Officials stated that the railway prioritized passenger safety and prevented any unnecessary inconvenience.

Govind Gautam, a resident of Nepal who was traveling to Katra, reported that the train was towed to Panipat by a diesel engine. There was some inconvenience, but a new rake arrived promptly, and passengers were given the option to complete their journey while remaining seated. The railway staff kept the situation well under control.
