Varanasi. Work has accelerated towards launching electric bus services in the city. The Transport Department has advanced the process of constructing two opportunity charging stations within the Cantt bus station complex. According to officials, the work of obtaining electricity connections for these stations has been completed.
This charging facility is primarily being developed keeping in mind the operation of e-buses running on the Varanasi–Prayagraj route. In the first phase, a total of 22 electric buses are being provided to the Prayagraj region. The charging infrastructure is being expanded to ensure the smooth operation of buses originating from Varanasi.
Officials stated that the location for one station within the car section complex has already been finalized, while inspections are ongoing to identify the second location. Regular operation of electric buses will commence as soon as the charging stations are ready.
The Transport Department believes that the introduction of e-bus services will reduce pollution in the city and provide passengers with a more comfortable and environment-friendly travel option.
