Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated the 1.80-kilometre Green City-Madhopur Dam road in Gorakhpur on Tuesday. The road has been constructed and widened at a cost of Rs 69.58 crore.
During the inauguration programme, Yogi Adityanath also made a light-hearted remark about Gorakhpur MP and actor Ravi Kishan after noting that he had not delivered a speech. The Chief Minister asked people present at the programme how many had attended a feast organised by Ravi Kishan.
He then asked the gathering how many people had watched Ravi Kishan’s film and how many had watched the film of ‘Kalibari Baba’. After hearing the response from those present, Yogi Adityanath said the two were equal.
The 1.80-kilometre road connects National Highway-24, also known as the Sonauli-Nautanwa-Gorakhpur route, with Madhopur Dam through Green City and Patnia. The road is two lanes wide.

The widening and strengthening work was carried out by Construction Division-II of the Public Works Department. The project is intended to facilitate movement for residents of the surrounding areas.
Drainage arrangements were also made during construction of the Green City-Madhopur Dam route. Drains have been built on both sides of the road to facilitate the disposal of rainwater.
The road is expected to directly benefit residents of Green City and nearby colonies. The area had earlier faced movement difficulties because of the narrow road and traffic pressure. The widening of the road is expected to address the issue.
The Green City-Madhopur Dam road is also intended to facilitate movement towards Nepal, Lucknow, Varanasi, Maharajganj and Siddharthnagar.
The new road is expected to reduce the need for such travellers to pass through the inner parts of Gorakhpur city. The project is also aimed at reducing traffic pressure on major routes while improving local and regional connectivity.
