Devotees and Kanwariyas arriving with Ganga water from Haridwar at a Shiv temple in Gurugram’s Krishna Colony faced difficulties during Shivratri after the temple gate remained closed and basic facilities were reported to be inadequate. In protest, devotees locked the temple gate, following which police reached the spot, got the gate opened and allowed devotees to enter for Jalabhishek.
The situation at the Shiv temple in Krishna Colony, Gurugram, deteriorated during Shivratri when Kanwariyas and other devotees arriving with Ganga water from Haridwar were unable to enter the temple. With the gate closed, devotees waited outside for a considerable time to perform Jalabhishek.
Angered by the lack of adequate facilities at the temple, devotees staged a protest and locked the temple gate. After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot. Following police intervention, the lock was opened and devotees were allowed to enter the temple. They subsequently performed Jalabhishek of Lord Shiva.
Devotees alleged that the temple does not have adequate basic facilities for Kanwariyas and other visitors. Kanwariyas who travel several kilometres after bringing Ganga water from Haridwar reportedly face particular difficulties.

According to devotees, there is no proper arrangement for bathing at the temple premises. They also reported a lack of basic facilities such as bathrooms and drinking water. Devotees expressed dissatisfaction over the absence of adequate arrangements despite the arrival of a large number of people during Shivratri.
Devotees said that people visiting the religious site should at least have access to water, toilets and other essential facilities so that Kanwariyas do not face difficulties while performing Jalabhishek.
Local residents also raised questions about arrangements at the temple. They alleged that the temple is not being operated properly. They further claimed that donations made by devotees are not being used to improve essential facilities at the temple.
Local residents have demanded that the administration investigate the temple’s arrangements. They have also appealed for drinking water, bathing facilities, bathrooms and other basic amenities for Kanwariyas and devotees.
The Shiv temple, located in Gali Number 4 of Krishna Colony, was reportedly built by a retired tehsildar from Karnal. A large number of Kanwariyas and local devotees had reached the temple on the occasion of Shivratri.
Following the protest, police reached the spot, brought the situation under control and got the temple gate opened. Devotees were subsequently able to perform Jalabhishek.
Local residents said adequate facilities and better arrangements should be ensured in the temple premises according to the number of devotees so that a similar situation does not arise in the future.
