YouTube to Discontinue Trending Page, Introducing Personalized Features

YouTube is discontinuing its 'Trending' page from July 21st. It will be replaced with new features like category-wise trending charts and 'Hype'.

YouTube Trending: YouTube has taken a significant and surprising step in the world of video streaming. From July 21, 2025, YouTube will permanently shut down its 'Trending' page and 'Trending Now' list. This feature was launched in 2015 and has been a crucial source for showcasing viral videos, popular content, and emerging trends ever since. However, YouTube believes that times have changed, and people are increasingly using other methods like search, the Explore tab, subscriptions, and channel visits to find content instead of the Trending page.

What will replace Trending?

The "category-specific charts" are being introduced in place of the Trending page. This means there will be different trending lists for each topic, allowing users to easily find content according to their preferences.

New trending categories include:

  • Trending Music Videos – A list of hit and viral songs for music lovers
  • Top Weekly Podcast Shows – The most popular podcasts of the week
  • Trending Movie Trailers – Trending new and popular movie trailers

In this new system, videos will not be mixed in a single list, but users will see content according to their interests. This is an important step towards making YouTube a more customized platform.

Creators will get a new tool – ‘Inspiration Tab’

Many YouTube creators used the Trending page to generate new video ideas. Now that this feature is being removed, a special 'Inspiration' tab will be active for creators in YouTube Studio. This will provide them with information on trending topics, video themes, and audience preferences related to their content. This feature can prove to be a boon, especially for new and small creators who are looking for the right direction to go viral.

New creators will get a promotion opportunity with the ‘Hype’ feature

YouTube is also launching a new feature called – Hype. This feature will provide viewers with the facility to promote any new and interesting video. If you like a video, you can give it ‘Hype’, and that video will reach more people. This will benefit new and emerging YouTubers who previously took time to reach their audience. This feature will help create a direct connection between viewers and creators.

Who benefits and how much?

  • Users will get a more personalized experience
  • Creators will get support from Hype and a new source of trending ideas
  • YouTube will get a chance to increase user engagement

What will users have to do now?

Now, if you want to see trending content, you will have to go to the Explore section of YouTube or a specific category. Although some users may find this change strange at first, it will, in the long run, provide them with more relevant and interesting content.
