CBSE: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released detailed guidelines and dates for supplementary exams and practical exams for classes 10th and 12th. A notification regarding this has been uploaded on the board's official website, cbse.gov.in. It specifies the dates for each examination and which category of students will be required to appear for the exams.
Practical exams will be held between July 10th and 15th, 2025
According to the schedule released by CBSE, practical exams for students of classes 10th and 12th will be conducted between July 10th and July 15th, 2025. These exams are for students who have been placed in the compartment category in practicals or both (theory and practicals).
Supplementary exam for class 12th on July 15th
The board has clarified that the supplementary or compartment exam for class 12th will be held on a single day, i.e., July 15th, 2025. Students who have a compartment in theory or both will have to appear for this exam.
Supplementary exams for class 10th between July 15th and 22nd
Supplementary exams for class 10th students will be held from July 15th to July 22nd, 2025. These exams will be conducted in a single shift, but the duration of the exam will vary depending on the nature of the paper. Some question papers will have a time of 3 hours to solve, while others will have a duration of 2 hours.
Exam timing and shift details
The supplementary and practical exams will be conducted in the morning shift. The timing for most papers is scheduled from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, while some papers will start at 10:30 AM and continue until 1:30 PM. Information related to the examination center, subjects, and schedule is provided in the admit card.
Who needs to take the practical exam
CBSE has clarified that students who have a compartment category only under Repeat in Practical (RP) need to appear only for the practical exam. Such students do not need to appear for the theory exam. On the other hand, students who have failed in both (RB), i.e., theory and practical, will have to take both exams.
Eligibility criteria for Senior Secondary (12th)
The eligibility for class 12th students is determined as follows:
- Students in the RP category will only have to take the practical exam.
- Students in the RB category are required to appear for both theory and practical exams.
Guidelines for Secondary (10th)
To pass a subject in class 10th, a student must score a minimum of 33 percent marks, combining theory and internal assessment. If a student was absent in the internal assessment and has been placed in a compartment, such students will be provided internal marks in a proportional manner based on their theory marks in the supplementary exam. Internal assessments will not be conducted again for such students.
Admit cards for the supplementary and practical exams have been released on the CBSE website. Students can obtain their admit cards from their schools or the board portal. The board has appealed to the students to reach the examination center before the scheduled time and to follow all instructions.
