China Denies Hypersonic Missile Technology to Pakistan, Hindering Strategic Balance

Pakistan expected hypersonic missile technology from China, but China denied the export. This has dealt a major blow to Pakistan's plan to match India's missile capabilities.

Pakistan Setback Hypersonic Missiles: China has refused to provide Pakistan with hypersonic missiles and the technology to manufacture them. This decision is considered a strategic setback for Pakistan, as it was trying to strengthen itself against India's missile technology. According to reports, China has made it clear that its hypersonic missiles are not currently available for export and it has not yet prepared any export version.

Why Pakistan wanted this technology

Pakistan's aim was to counter India's advanced missile capabilities. India is already working on high-speed and advanced missiles like the Hypersonic Technology Demonstrator Vehicle (HSTDV). Pakistan wanted to receive this level of technology from China so that it could maintain strategic balance. Pakistan's intention was not only to buy these missiles but also to learn to develop them itself.

Pakistan's weak credibility became an obstacle

One of the main reasons for China's denial is that the performance of the Chinese weapons that Pakistan has received earlier has not been up to expectations. This has raised concerns in China's security agencies that such sensitive technology may not be safe in the hands of Pakistan.

In addition, China also fears that Pakistan may share this technology with a third country or Western countries. In such a situation, it could pose a threat to China's strategic interests.

China's strictness on sensitive technology

According to defense experts, China prepares special export versions for its advanced weapons like the J-10CE fighter jet and the HQ-9 air defense system. But when it comes to hypersonic missiles, China's policy is completely different.

Hypersonic missiles are extremely fast and lethal, capable of reaching their target in just a few minutes. This technology is so sensitive that China considers it a major part of its strategic security. This is the reason why it neither wants to export it to any country nor share its technology.

China's strategic thinking

China is currently working to further improve hypersonic missile technology and to produce it on a large scale. China believes that this technology is an important part of its defense policy not only against India, but also against the United States and its Western allies.

Therefore, until this technology is fully mature and its strategic risks can be controlled, China is not ready to give it to any country, even if it is an old friend like Pakistan.

India's advantage increased Pakistan's concern

India has significantly increased its missile capabilities in the last few years. The progress made in hypersonic technology like the BrahMos missile, the Agni series, and the recent HSTDV has worried Pakistan. Pakistan feels that India is gaining a strategic advantage, which could create a strategic imbalance in South Asia.
