The Maharashtra government's lawyers have clarified in the Bombay High Court that no suspicious aspects have emerged in the death of Disha Salian, and the case appears to be a suicide.
Disha Salian Case: Four years after the death of Disha Salian, the former celebrity manager from Mumbai, amidst lingering questions and political accusations, the Bombay High Court has finally delivered a significant decision. Dismissing all allegations against Aditya Thackeray as baseless, the Maharashtra government clarified in court that no conspiracy or suspicious facts have come to light in the death of Disha Salian. Thus, Aditya Thackeray has been completely cleared in this case.
In fact, Disha Salian's father, in his petition, had pleaded with the court to have the death investigated by the CBI or a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Mumbai Police. He alleged that his daughter was brutally raped and then murdered, and this was declared a suicide under political pressure. He even stated that the role of Aditya Thackeray in this conspiracy should also be investigated.
Maharashtra Government's Stand in Court
Senior Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar of the Malvani Police Station, on behalf of the state government, filed an affidavit in court, making it clear that Disha Salian's death had been thoroughly investigated, and it was considered a suicide based on forensic evidence as well as the post-mortem report. The government stated that all the allegations made in the petition are unfounded and baseless, lacking any concrete basis.
The government's arguments stated that all necessary evidence, including Disha's mobile data, call records, investigation reports of the crime scene, statements of eyewitnesses, and CCTV footage, had been examined. No evidence of murder or rape was found. Therefore, there is no justification for re-submitting the case to the CBI.
Disha's Father Made Major Allegations
The petitioner, i.e., Disha Salian's father, had said in court that an attempt was made to suppress his daughter's murder by giving it the form of suicide, in which politically influential people were involved. He claimed that Disha was engaged to Rohan Rai, but suddenly many tensions arose in her life, and one day she lost her life.
Disha Salian's name came into the limelight the most when actor Sushant Singh Rajput died on June 14, 2020. Since Disha had earlier been Sushant's manager, and her death occurred only a few days before Sushant's, both cases were linked and various conspiracy theories were fabricated.
Controversy in Political Circles
The Disha Salian case was also raised in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly in 2022. BJP MLA Nitesh Rane and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) MLA Bharat Gogavale bly raised this issue in the House and even demanded a narco test of Aditya Thackeray. There was a lot of uproar in the House over this, but nothing suspicious was found in the investigation.
Mumbai Police, in its final report, had said that Disha Salian was under mental stress and was suffering from depression due to several personal reasons, due to which she jumped from the 14th floor of a building in Malad on June 8, 2020. The post-mortem report also did not find any evidence of any kind of injury or sexual assault.
