A high-profile cyber fraud has been uncovered in Mumbai's Prabhadevi area. An unknown cybercriminal hacked the mobile app of Aditya Birla Capital Digital Limited, selling off digital gold belonging to 435 customers and defrauding them of approximately ₹1.95 crore.
According to information, the hacker targeted the API between the company's server and the app, bypassing the OTP-based security system and transferring the funds to various accounts. The fraud came to light when several customers complained that their gold investments had been sold without their authorization.
Subsequently, Ravindra Rajmal Choudhary, the company's Fraud Risk Management Head, filed a case with the Central Region Cyber Cell. The app facilitates the buying and selling of digital gold through MMTC-PAMP and processes payments via Razorpay. The cyber police are currently investigating the matter seriously.

The hacker disabled the app's OTP verification system and sold the digital gold of 435 customers without authorization on June 9.
