Diljit Dosanjh’s highly anticipated Punjabi film, ‘Sardaar Ji 3,’ is currently embroiled in controversy ahead of its release. While fans eagerly await the film, calls for its ban in India are intensifying.
Sardaar Ji 3: The film has become a focal point of a major controversy, combining wealth, talent, and political awkwardness. Following the release of the trailer, the Indian film industry and the public reacted with anger over the inclusion of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir. Recently, B-Praak had already criticized Diljit, and now Mika Singh has fiercely criticized him on his Instagram story, calling him a “fake singer.”
Why Did Mika Singh Call Him ‘Fake Singer’?
In his statement, Mika Singh stated that everyone knows the current state of relations between India and Pakistan. Despite this, some individuals are acting irresponsibly… a “fake singer” has been touring India, taking money from thousands of fans, and then disappearing. For Mika, this is a matter of “Nation First,” referring to Diljit’s artistry and decision to collaborate with an artist from across the border. He sharply criticized Diljit’s choice to work with a Pakistani actress.
B-Praak also shared a cryptic post on social media, stating that “many artists have sold their conscience.” Although he didn’t name anyone, these comments are being viewed as a dig at Diljit during this period of controversy.
Why Has ‘Sardaar Ji 3’ Become a Controversy?
- Casting of a Pakistani Actress: Before the release, Hania Amir’s face was removed from the trailer at the direction of officials, but she was later reinstated in the trailer.
- Tensions on the Border: Following the Pulwama attack in April and Operation Shaurya Suraksha, Indo-Pak relations have been strained. This has led to the casting of a Pakistani actress being viewed as treasonous.
- B‑PraQ’s FWICE Demand: Groups like FWICE (Fearless Writers Association) have demanded that the censor board prevent the film’s release in India due to Hania Amir’s presence.
Diljit’s Response
Diljit has stated that the film was made when relations were normal and it needs to be released internationally as a domestic release is currently not possible. He explained: “When the film was made, everything was fine… now the situation has changed, but I stand with the producers.”
