Tejashwi Yadav Accuses Election Commission of Bias in Bihar Voter List Revision

Tejashwi Yadav demands transparency from the Election Commission, alleging irregularities in the voter list. The Grand Alliance demands an all-party meeting.

Bihar News: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav has stated that "attempts to eliminate democracy have begun from Bihar, the motherland of democracy." He made this comment regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) campaign of the voter list being conducted by the Election Commission in Bihar. According to Tejashwi, there is a lack of transparency in this process, and the commission's behavior appears biased.

Serious questions raised about the Election Commission

Leaders of the Grand Alliance allege that they want to meet with the commission to register their objections, but they haven't been given time yet. RJD and Congress leaders say that the commission is repeatedly changing its own decisions, which has made the entire process suspicious.

Demand for an all-party meeting

The Grand Alliance has demanded that an all-party meeting be convened on this issue so that all political parties can openly discuss it. Tejashwi Yadav said that if the commission wants to maintain transparency in any process, all parties should be given equal opportunity.

Concerns regarding those who have migrated

The Grand Alliance has expressed concern over the deletion of names of those who have left Bihar for employment, education, or medical treatment. According to reports, more than three crore people have migrated from Bihar so far. Tejashwi questioned whether the names of such people would be removed from the voter list.

Questions regarding the documents of the poor

The leaders say that the 11 types of documents being demanded by the commission may not be available to every poor person. Especially people belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Backward Classes, Extremely Backward Classes, and minority communities do not have these documents. In such a situation, their names may be removed from the voter list, which is against democracy.

Support from caste census data

RJD leaders, citing the data from the caste census, said that 94 lakh people are living below the poverty line. In such a scenario, it should be clarified which documents will be considered valid for voter registration. A response has been sought from the commission in this regard.

Congress targets the BJP

State Congress President Rajesh Ram alleged that government agencies are working under the instructions of the BJP and the central government. He said that names are being removed based on surnames. This process is biased and a conspiracy to weaken democracy.
