Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Reduced by Up to ₹7 Before Budget Announcement. New Prices Effective February 1st, but Domestic Gas Cylinder Prices Remain Unchanged.
LPG Price: Hours before the presentation of the Union Budget, consumers received some relief with a reduction in gas cylinder prices. Commercial gas cylinders became cheaper effective February 1st. Oil marketing companies reduced the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders by up to ₹7. These new rates came into effect on February 1st.
New Prices for Commercial Gas Cylinders
Following the price reduction, the new prices for commercial cylinders in major Indian cities are as follows:
Delhi – Reduced from ₹1804 to ₹1797 per cylinder
Mumbai – Reduced from ₹1756 to ₹1749.50 per cylinder
Kolkata – Reduced from ₹1911 to ₹1907 per cylinder
Chennai – Reduced from ₹1967 to ₹1959.50 per cylinder
While this reduction in commercial cylinder prices offers some relief, the prices of domestic cooking gas cylinders remain unchanged.
LPG Cylinder Prices Change Monthly
Oil marketing companies review LPG cylinder prices on the first of every month. This review adjusts prices for both 19 kg commercial cylinders and 14 kg domestic gas cylinders. However, this time, no reduction was implemented for domestic cylinders.
Domestic Gas Cylinder Prices Remain Stable
Domestic LPG cylinder prices remain unchanged this time. The prices of 14 kg domestic gas cylinders in major Indian cities are as follows:
Delhi – ₹803
Mumbai – ₹802.50
Kolkata – ₹829
Chennai – ₹818.50
Lucknow – ₹840.50
Although the government has reduced domestic gas prices on several occasions, this time only commercial cylinder prices were reduced.
Hope for Further Relief
The pre-budget reduction in commercial cylinder prices has offered some relief to traders and small businesses. However, the general public is still hoping for a reduction in domestic gas cylinder prices. It remains to be seen what further steps the government will take to provide relief to ordinary consumers.
