Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu Weighs In on Hindi Controversy Between Center and Tamil Nadu

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Naidu has intervened in the ongoing Hindi language debate between the central government and the Tamil Nadu government. He stated that hatred towards any language is unacceptable and emphasized the importance of learning both Hindi and English.

National Language Debate: Tensions are rising between the central government and the Tamil Nadu government over language and state boundaries. The Stalin government in Tamil Nadu has accused the center of imposing Hindi, further intensifying the controversy. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has now offered his perspective, explicitly stating that language should not be a source of hatred, and instead, learning and embracing all languages should be encouraged.

Language as a Means of Communication – Naidu

At a public event, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu stated, "Hindi is a national language and English is an international language. Both languages hold significant importance, making their acquisition beneficial. We must remember that language is merely a means of communication."

Highlighting the Importance of Mother Tongue

Chief Minister Naidu further emphasized the importance of prioritizing one's mother tongue while simultaneously advocating for the learning of other languages. He stated, "In today's world, Indians are traveling to various countries; therefore, learning other languages has become crucial for employment and global opportunities."

Responding to Tamil Nadu Government's Allegations

Responding to Tamil Nadu's accusations of the central government imposing Hindi, Naidu acknowledged Hindi's prevalence as a primary communication tool in Delhi and other states. However, he stressed that imposing any language forcefully is inappropriate. Every individual should have the freedom to choose a language based on their needs and preferences.

'Multilingualism is Best'

Chief Minister Naidu concluded, "We can learn any language for livelihood. Our mother tongue defines our identity, but learning additional languages is beneficial. This not only increases employment opportunities but also fosters cultural understanding."
