PM Modi: Babu Ji's Life Dedicated to the Poor and Democracy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an emotional message on X (formerly Twitter), wrote that Babu Jagjivan Ram dedicated his life to protecting the rights of the deprived and the oppressed. He wrote, "Humble tributes to former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram on his birth anniversary. His lifelong struggle for the rights of the deprived and the oppressed will always remain an inspiration."
PM Modi further stated that Babu Ji believed in two things – a b India and a democratic India. He also resolutely opposed the Emergency, when most people were intimidated by the then ruling power.
Role as Defense Minister Against Pakistan
Prime Minister Modi recalled that Babu Jagjivan Ram was India's Defense Minister when India gave a b response to Pakistan. He played a decisive role in the interests of the army and the nation, showing leadership at every level.
Mallikarjun Kharge Calls Babu Ji the 'Champion of Equality'
Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge, paying tribute to Babu Jagjivan Ram, wrote, "On Equality Day, heartfelt tributes to the great freedom fighter, the champion of social justice, and former Deputy Prime Minister Babu Jagjivan Ram. He fought throughout his life for the upliftment of the weak, exploited, and backward sections of society."
Kharge stated that Babu Ji's contribution to strengthening parliamentary democracy is unforgettable.
Rahul Gandhi: Babu Ji Gave Voice to the Deprived
Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, paying his respects on Babu Jagjivan Ram's birth anniversary, wrote, "Babu Ji dedicated his entire life to the rights of the deprived, exploited, and Dalits. His thoughts and struggles will always inspire us."
He said that Babu Ji strengthened the fight for social justice and equality and protected constitutional values.
