Lucknow: The Congress party in Uttar Pradesh has announced a new list of district and city presidents aimed at bolstering its organizational strength. Following the Samajwadi Party's 'PDA' (Backward, Dalit, Minority) formula, 65% of the appointed officials are from these communities. Congress is banking on the PDA communities to strengthen its political hold in UP.

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav employed this strategy before the Lok Sabha elections, reaping significant benefits. Now, Congress is attempting to solidify its position before the 2027 assembly elections by adopting a similar approach.

In the list of 133 district and city presidents, Congress has strived for social balance. The breakdown is as follows:
OBC: 48 officials
Muslim: 32 officials
Scheduled Castes/Tribes: 20 officials
General Category: 46 officials (including 26 Brahmins)

Congratulations to the Newly Appointed Leaders

The party wrote, "Heartiest congratulations to all the newly appointed District Presidents/City Presidents of Uttar Pradesh, appointed with the permission of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. We are confident that you will all strengthen the Congress party with your complete dedication, readiness, and commitment.”

A few days prior, the Bharatiya Janata Party also released its new list of district presidents. Congress's announcement is expected to further heighten political activity in UP.
