Increased Tensions in the Delhi Assembly Elections.

Delhi Election 2025: The dates for the Delhi Assembly elections have been announced. Voting will take place on a single day, February 5th, with the results expected on February 8th following the counting. A heated election atmosphere is palpable, with intense verbal sparring among political parties. A direct contest is shaping up between the Congress, BJP, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).

Disputes Between Congress and AAP

Questions are being raised about the unity of the INDIA alliance. Congress and AAP, who had previously stood together against the BJP, are now locked in a face-off. This situation presents a significant challenge for the Congress, while AAP is striving to strengthen its position.

Open Support from Mamata and Akhilesh

Several parties within the INDIA alliance are also embroiled in this election. However, Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav has openly declared his support for AAP. Mamata Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress has also extended moral support.

Uddhav Thackeray's Position Remains Uncertain

The Shiv Sena (UBT), led by Uddhav Thackeray, has yet to clearly define its stance. Senior party leader Sanjay Raut has advised both the Congress and AAP to conduct themselves with decorum during the elections. Meanwhile, Tejashwi Yadav of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has stated that the INDIA alliance was formed solely for Lok Sabha elections and does not apply to state elections.

Controversy Surrounds P. R. Chhavhan's Statement

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Congress leader, P. R. Chhavhan, stated in a public address that Arvind Kejriwal might win in Delhi. However, following controversy over this remark, he clarified that his statement was misrepresented.

A Triangular Contest Anticipated

The Delhi Assembly elections are poised to be a three-way contest. Congress has fielded Sandeep Dikshit from the New Delhi constituency against Arvind Kejriwal, while the BJP has nominated Pravesh Verma for the same seat.

A Clash Between Congress and INDIA?

The biggest question now is whether there will be a direct battle between Congress and the INDIA alliance in Delhi? Mamata and Akhilesh's support for AAP has complicated the situation for Congress. All eyes are now on Uddhav Thackeray's decision. Whether he will side with AAP or support Congress remains to be seen.
