Delhi Traders Call for Market Closure to Protest Pulwama Terrorist Attack

Delhi Bandh: Trader organizations in Delhi have called for a shutdown of all major markets today to protest the terrorist attack in Pulwama. Markets such as Chandni Chowk, Connaught Place, Khan Market, Sadar Bazaar, Chawri Bazaar, and Kashmere Gate will be closed. However, essential services like pharmacies, vegetable shops, and petrol pumps will remain operational to minimize inconvenience to the public.

Unity and Protest Against the Attack

This shutdown is a mark of respect for the innocent tourists killed in the attack and to express solidarity with the bereaved families. Delhi's trader organizations have taken this step to express their grief and outrage.

Extensive Support from Trader Organizations

The shutdown is supported by major trade organizations including the Delhi Hindustani Mercantile Association (DHMA), the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), the Chamber of Trade and Industry (CTI), the Bharatiya Udyog Vyapar Mandal (BIUM), and the Delhi Vyapar Mahasangh. Many other trade organizations and transport unions have also announced their participation.

Safety Precautions Advised

Praveen Khandelwal, MP from Chandni Chowk and National Secretary General of CAIT, has appealed to traders to take all necessary safety precautions and ensure that no untoward incidents occur during the shutdown.

Trade Community Expresses Anger and Grief Over Brutal Terrorist Attack

Hemant Gupta, Secretary General of BIUM, stated that the terrorist attack in Kashmir has deeply saddened and angered the trade community. All Delhi trader organizations have jointly called for this shutdown to protest the brutal killing of innocent tourists.
