Prashant Kishor, founder of the Jan Suraj Party, has declared that his party will contest all 243 seats in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections independently. This announcement has sent ripples through Bihar's political landscape.
Patna: Prashant Kishor categorically rejected any possibility of an alliance, stating that Jan Suraj's goal is to establish a new political culture in Bihar. He completely ruled out any pre-election coalition.
Kishor stated, "Jan Suraj is striving to transform Bihar. Our aim is not to ally with any other party after coming to power, but to deliver a b and transparent administration. As long as I live, the core ideology of Jan Suraj will not change."
Sharp Criticism of Existing Political Parties
At a press conference in Betia, he accused the RJD, JDU, BJP, and Congress of plundering Bihar for years. This, he asserted, is the reason Jan Suraj will not collaborate with any of these established parties. He claimed Jan Suraj is fully prepared to offer the people of Bihar a new alternative beyond both the NDA and Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance).
Kishor also bly criticized the state's liquor prohibition law, saying, "Liquor isn't actually banned in Bihar; only the shops are closed. This hasn't led to any social reform, but instead caused a loss of ₹15-20 thousand crore to the state. If a Jan Suraj government is formed, we will lift the prohibition law within an hour."
Government Under Fire Over Employment and Housing Policies
He attacked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging political motives behind the lack of implementation of a housing policy. "Nitish Kumar dreams of becoming Prime Minister every two-three years, so he doesn't care about Bihar's youth. Over 5 million people from Bihar seek jobs paying ₹6-8 thousand elsewhere, yet the state government prioritizes out-of-state candidates for government jobs."
A large crowd at a Jan Suraj rally in Lauria's Sahu Jain school grounds caused panic. Rekha Devi of Ramnagar Bakhri expressed anger at the local leaders present on stage, complaining that workers were suffering in the sun while leaders enjoyed the shade. The situation was brought under control after the leaders were moved from the stage.
Jan Suraj to Hold Rallies in 103 Blocks
Kishor announced that Jan Suraj will hold political rallies in 103 blocks of Bihar within the next two months. He said this campaign is aimed at creating a new political wave in Bihar. He appealed to the people of Champaran to accept Jan Suraj as an alternative to both the NDA and the RJD.
With the 2025 Bihar elections approaching, Jan Suraj's activities are intensifying. Whether Prashant Kishor's strategy will bring about significant change in Bihar's political landscape remains to be seen.
