Ghaziabad: A case was registered against Dasna Devi Temple's Mahant, Yati Narsinghanand Giri, on Friday night at the Wave City police station. He is accused of making inflammatory statements and offensive remarks against Mahatma Gandhi, Police Commissioner Ajay Mishra, and the ACP. The controversy arose after Yati shared his views in support of the Loni MLA. The police acted swiftly and filed the case.

Yati Narsinghanand has faced several controversies in the past

Yati Narsinghanand has previously faced cases for delivering inflammatory speeches and inciting religious sentiments. On Friday, he commented on Police Commissioner Ajay Mishra, announcing he would abstain from food and stated he would refuse water at the Police Commissioner's office on Monday. He disseminated this statement via video.

Police Action Based on the Video

Taking cognizance of this video, the police filed a case against Yati Narsinghanand. ACP Wave City, Upasana Pandey, stated that appropriate action would be taken after the investigation. Meanwhile, Yati protested the case on Saturday, claiming he had done nothing wrong and would go alone to the police office on Monday, allowing the police to take whatever action they deem appropriate.

Following a dispute over a Kalash Yatra for a Ram Katha in Loni, the Loni MLA openly criticized the government. Subsequently, Yati Narsinghanand made comments against Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru. This statement and the video went viral.

Introduction to Yati Narsinghanand

Yati Narsinghanand's real name is Deepak Tyagi, and he hails from Meerut district in western Uttar Pradesh. He went to Russia for higher education in 1989 and returned to India in 1997 after receiving his degree in 1994. While in Russia, he worked as an engineer but returned to Ghaziabad due to his mother's illness. Afterward, he began life as the Mahant of the Dasna Devi Temple and adopted the name Yati Narsinghanand.
