Pahalgam Terror Attack: Tensions between India and Pakistan have significantly increased following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Pakistan is exhibiting intense anger over India's suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty. Statements from Pakistani leaders are further escalating these tensions. Meanwhile, Pakistan's Railway Minister, Hanif Abbasi, has threatened India, stating that if India attempts to stop the flow of Indus River water, Pakistan will be prepared for war. He also claimed that Pakistan possesses 130 nuclear weapons solely prepared for India.
Pakistan's Threat: Nuclear Warning to India
During a press conference in Rawalpindi, Hanif Abbasi stated that if India attempts to obstruct Pakistan's water supply, it will receive a b response. He asserted that all of Pakistan's missiles are aimed at India, and any act of aggression by India will not be tolerated. He also mentioned that Pakistan possesses powerful missiles like Ghauri, Shaheen, and Ghaznavi, all targeted towards India.
Furthermore, Abbasi proposed placing the Pakistan Railways under military control. He indicated that Pakistan Railways could now be utilized for military operations. Additionally, Pakistani leader Bilawal Bhutto made inflammatory statements against India, threatening that if the Indus River water is stopped, "it won't be our water, but their blood that will flow."
India's Strong Response: Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty
Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22nd, India suspended the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan. The attack resulted in the deaths of 26 tourists, including 25 Indian and one Nepali citizen. Tensions have further escalated in Pakistan following this attack, with Pakistani leaders repeatedly issuing threats to India. Pakistan has termed this an 'act of war' and stated that any interference with the Indus Waters Treaty will be considered the commencement of hostilities.
