She wrote on X, "I am not a huge cricket fan, but I know Rohit Sharma has taken the Indian team to new heights. His performance and leadership have been extraordinary. Contribution to the game matters, not someone's physique."

Amidst the growing controversy, Congress spokesperson Shama Mohammad clarified that her intention was not to body shame but to discuss fitness. She stated, "I only said that a player should focus on their fitness. Look at Virat Kohli; his fitness is exceptional. Fitness levels are crucial in the game."

However, her clarification hasn't quelled the controversy. The BJP calls it Congress's "anti-sports mentality," while cricket fans continue to criticize Shama Mohammad for her comments.
