India Weather Update: Heatwave Relief in North, Rain Expected in East and South
Last Updated: 11-04-2025

Weather patterns across India are shifting once again. While north India has experienced a severe heatwave in recent days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a welcome alert.

Weather Update: India's weather is rapidly changing. Amidst the intense April heat, several states are experiencing rain and thunderstorms. The IMD's forecast for tomorrow predicts some relief from the heatwave in northwest India. Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh are expected to see a slight temperature drop.

Meanwhile, rainfall activity will intensify in northeastern and southern India. Due to a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, b winds, thunderstorms, and rain are anticipated in coastal areas of Odisha, West Bengal, and Andhra Pradesh. The IMD advises caution, especially in areas prone to lightning and b winds.

Delhi-NCR and Punjab-Haryana to See Reduced Heat

The heatwave in Delhi is expected to lessen starting tomorrow. While daytime temperatures will remain warm, cloud cover should offer some relief compared to the intense sunshine. Temperatures may reach 37°C during the day, and around 23°C at night. Punjab and Haryana will also experience a reduction in the intensity of the heat. Maximum temperatures will be around 38°C, with dusty winds possible in some areas. Farmers are advised to exercise caution regarding irrigation and crop protection.

Pleasant Weather in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand

Hill stations like Shimla, Manali, Mussoorie, and Nainital are expected to experience light showers and cloudy skies. Cool winds and temperatures between 20°C and 25°C are anticipated, providing relief from the heat.

Indications of Rain in Rajasthan and Maharashtra

Western Rajasthan may see some relief from the heatwave, but hot winds will persist. Temperatures in Jaipur and Jodhpur could reach 41°C. Ahmedabad and Surat in Gujarat will experience increased humidity, while the possibility of thunderstorms or light rain remains around Kutch. Mumbai will continue to experience humid weather, while Vidarbha and Marathwada are likely to see patchy rain. Light rain and thunderstorms are possible in cities like Pune and Nagpur.

Relief Expected in Eastern and Central India

The IMD predicts light to moderate rain in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Patna, Ranchi, and Kolkata may see a drop in temperature, offering relief from the humidity. The intensity of the heatwave is expected to decrease in Bhopal, Indore, and Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. Light rain is forecast for eastern parts of the state. Chhattisgarh's Raipur and Bilaspur may experience partly cloudy skies with light showers. Heavy rain is predicted for Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh.
