The Indian cricket team once again demonstrated their dominance by winning the 2025 Champions Trophy. Under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, Team India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in the final, securing their third victory in this prestigious tournament.

The ICC (International Cricket Council) increased the prize money by 53%, bringing the total prize pool to $6.9 million (approximately ₹60 crore). Team India received the lion's share of the prize money following their triumph.

India's Winning Spree: ₹19.5 Crore Prize Money

Following India's impressive victory, the ICC awarded the winning team $2.4 million (approximately ₹19.5 crore) in prize money. India's undefeated run throughout the tournament further enhanced the significance of this win. New Zealand, who exhibited excellent performance throughout the tournament, received $1.12 million (approximately ₹9.72 crore) as the runners-up. However, they were unable to realize their dream of winning the Champions Trophy for the first time by defeating India.

Prize Money for Semifinalists?

Australia and South Africa were the two teams eliminated in the semifinals. Both teams received $560,000 (approximately ₹4.86 crore).

The ICC also awarded prize money to teams performing well in the group stage. Each team earned $34,000 (approximately ₹30 lakh) for every group match win.

Prize Money for Other Teams

Teams finishing 5th and 6th received ₹3 crore.
Teams finishing 7th and 8th received ₹1.2 crore.
Each participating team received ₹1.08 crore.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah's Statement

Regarding the increased prize money, ICC Chairman Jay Shah stated, "This prize money reflects our investment in the growth of cricket. We aim to enhance the prestige of our tournaments, ensuring players benefit significantly." Before this tournament, there was speculation about Rohit Sharma's retirement, but he proved everyone wrong with his exceptional captaincy and batting. This is India's second ICC title under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, following the 2024 T20 World Cup.
