ED Questions Rabri Devi and Tej Pratap in Land for Job Scam; Lalu Yadav Summoned for Tomorrow

Bihar News: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, and son Tej Pratap Yadav for questioning. Officials stated that the ED has directed all three to appear at its Patna zonal office. Rabri Devi and Tej Pratap have been summoned for today (Tuesday), while Lalu Yadav is to appear for questioning tomorrow, Wednesday.

What is the ‘Land for Job’ Scam?

This case pertains to the recruitment of Group-D employees in the Jabalpur zone of West-Central Railway between 2004 and 2009. The allegation is that while Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railway Minister, land was transferred to his family or associates from certain candidates in exchange for railway jobs.

CBI Filed Case in 2022

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) first registered a case against Lalu Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, two daughters, unknown government officials, and some private individuals on May 18, 2022. Sanction for prosecution has been granted against 30 accused so far.

ED Investigation Takes a New Turn

The ED has conducted multiple investigations into this matter and has now issued summons to Lalu Yadav and his family for questioning. This action comes at a time of heightened political activity in Bihar, with the Lok Sabha elections approaching. The ED's questioning has once again caused a stir in Bihar's political landscape.
