Haryana News: The skies over Hisar, Haryana, roared with the sound of Indian Air Force fighter jets on Tuesday. Air Force aircraft inspected the Hisar Airport and subsequently returned to base. This three-day trial is expected to see fighter jets landing at Hisar for the first time on Wednesday.
What happened during the trial?
Air Force aircraft inspected the airstrip at Maharaja Agrasen Airport, but did not land on Tuesday. However, this airstrip is being prepared for future emergency use. According to sources, two to three aircraft arrived from Sirsa, conducted the inspection, and then returned.
10,000-foot long airstrip
A 10,000-foot-long airstrip has been constructed at Hisar Airport, strengthening the Air Force bases at Sirsa and Ambala. Its proximity to Delhi and Punjab airstrips will provide the Air Force with immediate support. However, the airport is yet to receive a license from the DGCA for operation, preventing the commencement of domestic flights.
Sounds of jets overhead, but no aircraft visible
Around 12 pm on Tuesday, the sounds of fighter jets were heard overhead, but no aircraft were visible. This inspection is being conducted by Air Force officials. Security was tight, with unauthorized personnel denied entry to the airport.
Strict checks on officials and cargo
More than 15 officials have arrived in Hisar for this trial. Several vehicles carrying cargo arrived at the airport and were thoroughly inspected before being allowed entry. The Air Force has implemented robust security measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
