Identification of Deceased Through Aadhaar Cards
A serious road accident occurred around 2 am on Friday night in front of a petrol pump located at Manu ka Pura in the Meja police station area on the Prayagraj-Mirzapur highway. A head-on collision took place between a Bolero carrying pilgrims from Korba, Chhattisgarh, who were going to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela, and a bus heading towards Mirzapur. Locals, alerted by the sound of the impact, informed the police. All 10 occupants of the Bolero died at the scene, while 19 others sustained injuries.
Following the accident, the bodies of the Bolero occupants were severely trapped within the vehicle, requiring the use of gas cutters for extraction. This process took approximately three hours. Two of the deceased were identified through Aadhaar cards found in their bags: Ishwari Prasad Jaiswal and Somnath, both residents of Jamnipalli, Korba, Chhattisgarh. The identification process for the remaining deceased is ongoing.
