Mahatma Vidur was the chief minister of Hastinapur and a member of the royal family. However, his mother was a servant in the royal household, not a princess. Due to this, Mahatma Vidur could not play a decisive role in the affairs of the state or the royal family, nor did he get the opportunity to learn martial arts from Bhishma Pitamaha. Mahatma Vidur was the son of Rishi Ved Vyas and a maidservant. He advised the Pandavas and on several occasions saved them from the schemes devised by Duryodhana. Vidur also opposed the insult of Draupadi in the court of the Kauravas. According to Lord Krishna, Vidur was considered an incarnation of Yama (the god of justice). Similar to Chanakya, Vidur's principles are highly praised. Vidur's wisdom is linked to a conversation between Mahatma Vidur and King Dhritarashtra of Hastinapur before the Mahabharata war. Let us learn the significance of Mahatma Vidur's policies – Part 1 in this article, from which we can learn lessons to improve our lives.
