On August 11th in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, ₹1200 crore in insurance claims will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of 2.7 million farmers under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chauhan will be present at the event.
Jhunjhunu: A historic occasion awaits farmers across the country on August 11th in this district. Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), approximately ₹1200 crore in insurance claim amounts will be directly transferred to the accounts of around 2.7 million farmers through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan will be prominently present at this grand claim distribution event. The program will be held at the Jhunjhunu airstrip, bringing great relief and hope to the farmers.
Relief Package for Farmers
This amount under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana will be deposited into the farmers' accounts as the first installment for Rabi 2024-25 and Kharif 2024 crops. This will compensate affected farmers for crop damage caused by natural disasters such as drought, excessive rainfall, storms, or other adverse weather conditions. This will enable farmers to repay loans, improve agricultural practices, and obtain financial assistance for preparing for the next crop.
According to Rajasthan government data, a total of ₹3,912.53 crore has been paid to 14.8 million farmers under this scheme in the current tenure so far. More than 17,000 farmers in Jhunjhunu district are also directly connected to this benefit.
Preparations for a Grand Event
To make this national-level program on August 11th a grand success, the administration and the BJP organization have jointly made extensive preparations. 280 buses have been arranged to bring approximately 30,000 farmers from Jhunjhunu district to the assembly site. Comfortable seating, drinking water, shade, and robust security arrangements have been made for the farmers.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, and other dignitaries will participate in the online insurance claim amount transfer ceremony during the assembly held at the Jhunjhunu airstrip. Symbolic checks will also be distributed to the beneficiaries of various schemes at the event.
Inspection of the Event Venue
On Sunday, the event venue was inspected by the Chief Minister's Secretary, the Commissioner of the Information and Public Relations Department, principal officers of the Agriculture Department, the District Collector, the Superintendent of Police, and senior BJP leaders. During the inspection, the entry gates for VIPs and the general public, parking, stage arrangements, security, drinking water, and other arrangements were reviewed.
Prem Singh Bajor, BJP State Vice President Mukesh Dadhich, former MP Narendra Kumar, District Head Harshini Kulhari, and other BJP leaders also ensured their roles in making the event successful.

The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana provides financial compensation to farmers for losses caused by natural disasters. Presiding over the meeting, Sainik Welfare Advisory Committee Chairman Prem Singh Bajor finalized the preparations for the event. Former Union Minister Subhash Maharia, BJP District President Harshini Kulhari, former MP Narendra Khichad, and other leaders are also excited about this scheme and program.
