A unique example of this sentiment is seen in Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Seventeen newborn girls, born over two days, May 10th and 11th, were named 'Sindur' by their parents. Dr. R.K. Shahi, Principal of Kushinagar Medical College, confirmed this information.

Pulwama Attack Prompts Strong Response from the Army

The April 22nd terrorist attack in Pulwama, Kashmir, resulted in the deaths of 26 innocent people, many of them tourists. This attack enraged the entire nation. Subsequently, on May 7th, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindur, targeting terrorist bases in Pakistan. This action strengthened the feelings of pride and security in the hearts of every Indian.

Pride in Choosing the Name 'Sindur': What the Families Said

Archanā Shāhi of Kushinagar said, "The Pulwama attack devastated many families. Through Operation Sindur, the army avenged the martyrs. We are proud of this, and therefore named our daughter 'Sindur'."

Archanā's husband, Ajit Shāhi, also shared his feelings. He said, "We had decided before our daughter's birth that her name would be 'Sindur.' For us, it's not just a name, but an inspiration."

Madan Gupta, a resident of Padrauna, said, "India eliminated the terrorists, holding its head high. My daughter-in-law wanted to keep this pride alive by naming her daughter Sindur."

Vyāsamuni of Bhathi Babu village also named his daughter 'Sindur.' He said, "When my daughter grows up, she will understand that this name symbolizes honor and sacrifice for the country."

In Kushinagar, this is not merely a naming ceremony, but the beginning of a new way of thinking. The people there believe that the name 'Sindur' will instill courage, self-confidence, and patriotism in the girls. This name will always remind them that serving Mother India is the greatest duty.
