A total of approximately 3,41,000 families in Gonda district have received gas connections under the PM Ujjwala Yojana.
These families are entitled to receive one free cylinder refill each during every Holi and Diwali festival.
However, this time, approximately 56,000 families will be deprived of this free refill because their e-KYC (electronic Know Your Customer) process has not yet been completed.
The District Supply Department had repeatedly instructed gas agencies to complete the KYC, but due to the negligence of the agencies, no action has been taken yet.
Beneficiaries are confused and disappointed that they are missing out on the scheme's benefits in this manner.
The free cylinder refill scheme was launched through an event held at the Collectorate auditorium.
The District Panchayat President, MP's representative, and other officials were present on this occasion.
During the program, some Ujjwala beneficiaries were also symbolically handed checks for a subsidy of Rs 569.50.
The 56,000 families who have not completed their KYC will be deprived of this benefit, even if they are otherwise eligible under the scheme.
This could raise questions about the reach and credibility of the government's scheme, especially among those who are left behind due to deadlines and procedural hurdles.
