The political uproar has intensified following a lathi charge on students at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh. A large number of ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad) students were injured in this incident, leading the organization's activists to intensify their protests.
Lucknow: The lathi charge incident in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh, and the controversial statements made in its aftermath have heated up the state's politics. Activists associated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have launched a protest against the state government's cabinet minister and Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party) chief, Om Prakash Rajbhar (OP Rajbhar). ABVP leaders allege that the minister called the activists "goons," which has damaged the organization's reputation. In response, ABVP leader Adarsh Tiwari Azad has sent a legal notice to OP Rajbhar.
Demand for Apology within 5 Days
Adarsh Tiwari Azad, an ABVP affiliate from Gonda, through his lawyer Siddharth Shankar Dubey, has stated in the notice sent to the minister that: OP Rajbhar should publicly apologize within 5 days. Within 7 days, he should provide a written assurance that he will not use derogatory language against ABVP or any student organization in the future.
The notice clearly warns that if an apology is not tendered within the stipulated timeframe, civil and criminal defamation proceedings will be initiated against the minister.
Dispute Arising from Barabanki Lathi Charge
The matter is related to Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Barabanki. A few days ago, a police lathi charge occurred here, in which several ABVP activists were injured. Following this, ABVP began b protests. Amidst this, Minister OP Rajbhar made a statement in which he allegedly described ABVP activists as "goons."
This statement added fuel to the fire. ABVP has termed it an attack on the organization's dignity and the self-respect of students. The organization states that this statement is not only against democratic values but is also an organized effort to defame the organization.
ABVP's Strong Reaction
ABVP has expressed b displeasure over OP Rajbhar's statement, calling it politically motivated. The organization stated: ABVP has been struggling democratically for decades for the rights of students and educational reforms. Calling such an organization "goons" is an insult to the reputation and self-respect of millions of students.
If the minister does not apologize, this will be escalated into a public movement. This entire controversy has given a new direction to state politics. Opposition parties have also questioned OP Rajbhar's statement, calling it irresponsible.
