Agra Father Arrested for 'Drishyam'-Style Murder of Teenage Blackmailer

Agra Police arrested the teenage girl's father in an 18-month-old murder case. He is accused of murdering a 17-year-old boy who was blackmailing his daughter with her video and burning the body in a field, a crime reportedly executed in the style of the film 'Drishyam'.

Agra: A sensational murder case has been exposed in Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Police have arrested the accused father in an 18-month-old case, who murdered a 17-year-old boy in the name of his 16-year-old daughter's protection. This case has emerged as a conspiracy hatched on the lines of the film 'Drishyam'. The accused had burnt and concealed the boy's body in a field, which had initially puzzled the police during their investigation.

Incident of Blackmail via Teenage Girl's Video

Agra DCP Rural Atul Sharma stated that the deceased was a resident of Malpura and worked as a videographer at wedding ceremonies. In 2023, he visited a relative's house and, after making a video of the 16-year-old girl while she was bathing, began blackmailing her. He demanded Rs 50,000.

The teenage girl informed her father about the incident. After attempts at conciliation and negotiation failed, the father decided to take stern action as the boy continued his objectionable behavior. The father believed that such a step was necessary for his daughter's safety.

Investigation Began After Discovery of Partially Burnt Body

On February 18, 2024, the teenager went to a wedding and subsequently went missing. Around the same time, a partially burnt body was found in the Sanai police station area, but it could not be identified. On the court's order, an FIR was registered regarding the boy's disappearance, and the case was re-investigated.

Initial investigations cast suspicion on the girl's father, but no concrete evidence was found at that time. Police retrieved the call details of the deceased and the accused father. The call location on February 18 was found near the Khari River. Subsequently, the police conducted DNA testing of the body, which confirmed the identity of the deceased teenager.

Arrest of Accused Father

After the body's identification, the police apprehended the accused father. During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had called the teenager to his shop via Facebook chat and murdered him by strangling him with a muffler and wire. He then attempted to destroy the body by burning it in a field.

The police revealed that the accused father was also planning to flee to South Africa to escape the consequences of the crime. A case has been registered against the accused under IPC sections 302 (murder), 201 (concealing evidence), 120B (criminal conspiracy), and other relevant sections.

Police Warn Against Blackmail and Threats

The DCP appealed to the general public to immediately report any incidents of blackmail, threats, or harassment to the police. This case has raised serious concerns about the safety of children and adolescents in Agra and surrounding areas.

It is imperative that families and society remain vigilant against such incidents and take necessary steps to ensure the safety of children. This event has clearly demonstrated that the misuse of digital media and social media is increasing the risk of serious crimes.
