A youth died after falling from a swing while allegedly recording a video and taking selfies in Agra, triggering panic at the scene and grief within the family.

According to eyewitnesses, the youth was seated on the swing and making a reel on his mobile phone when he lost balance and fell. People nearby reportedly raised an alarm immediately after the incident.

The youth was taken to a hospital shortly after the incident, where doctors said his condition was critical. Despite treatment efforts, he could not be saved.

The deceased’s father said that when he saw his son, blood was continuously coming from his nose. He stated that he could not control himself after seeing his son’s condition and grabbed the collar of a guard present at the site in anger.

After receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and began an investigation. Officials said the swing’s safety arrangements and the circumstances surrounding the incident would be examined.

Family members alleged that safety arrangements on the swing were inadequate. They said the incident could have been prevented if proper monitoring and precautions had been in place.

A crowd gathered at the site following the incident, and several people were seen recording videos of the scene on mobile phones. The incident has also drawn discussion on social media.

Doctors associated with the health department said injuries to the head and face caused by falls from a height can be dangerous. They said saving lives can sometimes be difficult despite timely medical treatment.

Experts said increasing competition to create reels and selfies is encouraging some people to attempt risky stunts. They said young people, in particular, often try to record videos in unsafe locations without adequate precautions, increasing the risk of accidents.

Police appealed to people to exercise caution at entertainment venues and elevated locations and not compromise their safety while making videos.

Family members said the incident had devastated the household, adding that a few seconds of negligence had taken away the family’s happiness.
