Akhilesh Yadav Slams PM Modi on Farmer Interests and Failed Foreign Policy

Akhilesh Yadav has attacked PM Modi's statement on farmer interests, saying that the government should have thought of this 10 years ago. He also criticized the government's foreign policy, calling it a failure, and raised concerns about US tariffs, demanding concrete steps for farmers.

Akhilesh Yadav: Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav has bly criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's statement prioritizing farmers' interests with regard to a potential trade agreement with the United States. He questioned the government's policy, its inaction over the past 10 years, and the failures of its foreign policy.

Prime Minister Modi's Clear Stance

Addressing a program in Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, "For us, the interests of farmers are paramount. India will not compromise on the interests of farmers, fishermen, and dairy farmers. I know this may come at a heavy price, but I am ready for it." This statement is being linked to the proposed trade agreement with the US, in which the US is demanding that India open its markets to dairy and agricultural products. PM Modi's statement is being seen as a reaffirmation of the vision of a self-reliant India.

Akhilesh Yadav's Sharp Retort

Responding sharply to the Prime Minister's stance, Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav said that the BJP should have worried about farmers 10 years ago, not now. He said, "It is ironic that the government is remembering farmers today. Those who promised to double farmers' income are now trying to prove themselves pro-farmer by citing international pressure. But the reality is visible in every village of the country." Akhilesh described PM Modi's statement as a "stand taken under political pressure," saying that the government is now taking cover behind nationalism and farmer interests to hide its failures.

'Foreign Policy Completely Failed' – Akhilesh

Continuing his criticism, Akhilesh Yadav also attacked India's foreign policy. He said, "The countries whose relations our government has been touting are now imposing tariffs on us. We are facing challenges from all sides – China, America, Russia. This is a complete failure of the government's foreign policy." He also stated that India's position has become so weak that even a trade agreement has become a threat to national interest and farmer security.

Trump Tariffs and India's Situation

During the conversation, Akhilesh Yadav also mentioned the 25% additional tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump on India. He said, "When the US imposes tariffs on India for buying oil from Russia, it shows the weakness of our foreign policy. In such a situation, PM Modi should answer what he has done in all these years?" He further said, "We have had historical relations with the US, but today there is bitterness in those relations as well. If India's policy were balanced, we would not be in such an uncomfortable situation today."

Are Farmer Interests Really a Priority?

Akhilesh Yadav directly questioned PM Modi, asking that if the interests of farmers are truly paramount, then why has a legal guarantee on MSP (Minimum Support Price) not been given yet? He asked why the government has not waived farmers' loans and why farmers' income has not been doubled as promised. Akhilesh sarcastically said, "Farmers need concrete policies, not just speeches. Words do not fill their stomachs; they need respect and real support."
