Seven All-Party Delegations Return After Operation Sindhu, to Brief PM Modi on Global Response to Terrorism.
PM Modi Meeting: Following the terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, India took significant steps to counter Pakistan, not only militarily but also diplomatically. In response to the attack, the Indian armed forces, under 'Operation Sindhu,' destroyed nine terrorist bases in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Punjab province. Subsequently, the Indian government launched a multilateral initiative to strengthen its diplomatic strategy against terrorism. Seven all-party teams, comprising ruling and opposition party leaders, were dispatched to 33 countries worldwide.
Diplomatic Initiative Following Operation Sindhu
Operation Sindhu was not merely a military operation; it was part of a broader Indian strategy to expose Pakistan internationally. Immediately following the operation, the government ensured that major world powers were clearly informed of India's position and garnered international support against Pakistan's terrorist network.
Seven Teams, 33 Countries, a Comprehensive Campaign
The government formed seven teams, including senior parliamentarians from both the ruling and opposition parties. These teams visited major capitals in Europe, America, the Gulf countries, Africa, and Asia. The objective was not only to convey India's perspective but also to project India's image on the global stage as a decisive and proactive nation.
PM Modi to Receive Feedback, MPs Invited for Dinner
With six teams already back and the seventh team (led by Shashi Tharoor) scheduled to return on June 10th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited these delegations for a dinner at his residence. This meeting is scheduled for 7:30 PM on June 10th, where PM Modi will gather detailed feedback from all MPs on their experiences and observations from their foreign visits.
Ruling and Opposition Parties on a Single Platform
A significant aspect of this special mission was the participation of both ruling and opposition parties. From the NDA, senior leaders like BJP's Ravi Shankar Prasad, Baijayant Jay Panda, JDU's Sanjay Kumar Jha, and Shiv Sena (Shinde faction)'s Shrikant Shinde were included. From the opposition, Shashi Tharoor (Congress), Kanimozhi (DMK), and Supriya Sule (NCP) led their respective teams. This initiative exemplified political coordination and unity in the national interest.
Information Shared with the External Affairs Minister
Upon their return from abroad, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Kanimozhi, Supriya Sule, and other leaders met with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to provide detailed accounts of their travels. This information is not only useful for evaluating India's strategy but also reveals the kind of response India's efforts received in different countries.
Shashi Tharoor's Team's Return
The delegation led by Shashi Tharoor, which visited the US and Caribbean countries, is expected to return on the afternoon of June 10th. Following their return, they will also meet Prime Minister Modi and share their experiences.
