Allahabad High Court Seeks Response on Age Limit in UP Home Guard Recruitment 2025

The Allahabad High Court has directed the UPPRPB to explain the reduction in age limit for the UP Home Guard Recruitment 2025, following a petition by eligible candidates.

Prayagraj। The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment & Promotion Board (UPPRPB) to file a written response within six weeks regarding a petition concerning age limit relaxations in the Uttar Pradesh Home Guard Recruitment 2025. The order was given by a single-judge bench of Justice Vikas on a petition filed by Karan Rai and three other candidates.

The petitioners informed the court that the recruitment process for a total of 41,424 posts has been initiated, but the maximum age limit has been reduced from 45 years to 30 years, rendering many eligible candidates ineligible. They stated that several applicants had previously applied, but are now no longer eligible due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The petitioners also submitted that the government has already granted a 3-year age relaxation in other government recruitment examinations such as UP Constable 2023, UP SI 2025, and Jail Department 2025. Therefore, the petitioners claim that similar relief should be provided in the Home Guard recruitment as well.

The court has asked the Police Recruitment Board to present a clear justification for why age relaxation was not granted and whether the decision was taken under the recruitment rules and government policies. The next order will be passed during the upcoming hearing.
