Ambedkar Nagar. Paddy harvesting in the district is nearing its final stage. Keeping the wheat sowing season in mind, some farmers continued the practice of stubble burning. The administration has taken a strict stance on this: 52 farmers have been fined for burning stubble, and a case has also been registered against one farmer.
The district administration informed that under this action, a total of over 2.85 lakh rupees has been recovered.
Additionally, Deputy Agriculture Director Ashwini Kumar Singh stated that farmers burning stubble in less than two acres can be fined 5,000 rupees, those with two to five acres 10,000 rupees, and those exceeding five acres can face a fine of up to 30,000 rupees.
He has urged farmers to adopt cow shelters (for fodder/bedding), composting, or other safe disposal methods instead of burning stubble in their fields, thereby preserving both air quality and soil fertility.
