NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has undertaken significant work to strengthen India's foreign policy. Comparing Modi's tenure with that of the country's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and subsequent Congress governments, he stated that when historians evaluate this period, the outcome will be in Prime Minister Modi's favor.
Shah further explained that over the past ten years, 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, and India's economy has risen from 11th to 4th place. Additionally, major changes such as the abrogation of Article 370, the construction of the Ram Temple, the ban on Triple Talaq, the clarification of the definition of citizenship, and the increased global respect for the Indian passport have also been possible in this decade.
Comparison of Modi Era vs. Nehru Era
Comparing the foreign policy of India's first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and the Congress rule with that of the Modi government, Amit Shah stated that in the eyes of historians, the "Modi era" will be considered more impactful. He said, "When historians compare the era of Prime Minister Modi with the eras of other prime ministers, the conclusion will always be in Modi ji's favor." Shah also added that under the leadership of the Modi government, India has witnessed significant transformations not only in diplomacy but also on the social and economic fronts.
Poverty Eradication and Economic Achievements
Amit Shah highlighted the Modi government's economic achievements, stating that over the past decade, 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty. He informed that India's economy, which was once in 11th place, has now become the world's fourth-largest economy. He added that these achievements are credited to Prime Minister Modi's visionary policies and decisive leadership, which have propelled India to new heights of development.
