Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has intensified its campaign, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah scheduled to address multiple public meetings across key constituencies in the state on Saturday.
The political environment in West Bengal has become increasingly active ahead of the Assembly elections, with major parties focusing on voter outreach and organisational strengthening. The BJP has expanded its campaign efforts through a series of rallies and public meetings led by its senior leadership.
Amit Shah is scheduled to address three public meetings in Bankura and Purulia districts on Saturday. These rallies are being organised as part of the party’s efforts to demonstrate organisational strength and engage directly with voters.
According to the schedule, Shah will begin his engagements at 11 am with a public meeting at Ramsagar Anchal Maidan in Chatna, located in the Onda Assembly constituency of Bankura district. He will then address a second rally at 12:30 pm in Ethani Jhantipahari in the Chatna Assembly constituency. Both events are expected to see participation from party workers, supporters, and local residents.
In the afternoon, the Union Home Minister will travel to the Baghmundi Assembly constituency in Purulia district, where he is scheduled to address a third public meeting at 2 pm at Kushaldih Cricket Ground. These rallies form a part of the BJP’s election campaign, aimed at strengthening its presence in tribal and rural regions of the state.
The BJP’s campaign is focused on direct voter engagement and organisational expansion in areas where its presence has been comparatively limited. Political analysts state that the party is working to activate its organisation at the booth level while highlighting local issues as part of its election strategy. Through rallies and public meetings, the party is seeking to reach voters in rural and semi-urban areas.
On Friday, Amit Shah released the BJP’s manifesto for the West Bengal Assembly elections, titled ‘Sankalp Patra’. The document includes several commitments aimed at different sections of the population.
The party has promised to implement a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) within six months of coming to power. It has also stated that it will ensure dearness allowance (DA) for government employees and expedite the implementation of the recommendations of the 7th Pay Commission.
The manifesto includes commitments related to strengthening law and order and taking a strict stance against illegal infiltration. The party has stated that it will adopt a “zero tolerance” policy with the aim of improving the security situation in the state.
The BJP has also outlined proposals targeting youth and women. It has proposed providing monthly financial assistance of Rs 3,000 to women through direct transfers to their bank accounts. Additionally, the party has promised 33 per cent reservation in state government jobs, including in the police department.
