Arattai Messaging App Falls Out of Top 100 Amid End-to-End Encryption Concerns

The indigenous messaging app Arattai has seen a sharp decline in popularity. The app has fallen out of the top 100 list on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. This app, which initially challenged WhatsApp, now appears to be losing user trust, largely attributed to the lack of end-to-end encryption.

Arattai App Ranking Fall: The indigenous messaging app Arattai has recently experienced a significant drop in its ranking. Developed by Zoho, this native app, which initially gained rapid popularity as an alternative to WhatsApp, has now dropped out of the top 100 list on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Its position has been consistently weakening over the past few weeks. According to reports, the lack of security features and the absence of end-to-end encryption are raising concerns among users, leading to a decrease in the app's appeal. Companies and tech experts believe that the app could make a comeback once better security features are integrated.

Significant Drop in Ranking, Out of Top 100

Arattai's ranking has rapidly declined in the past few weeks. On Google Play Store's top charts, the app has slipped to the 110th position, while in the communication category, it has fallen to seventh place. Similarly, on the Apple App Store, Arattai's ranking has dropped to 123, and it is now in eighth place in the social networking category.

Initially, following the 'Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan' (Self-Reliant India Campaign) and PM Modi's appeal, a large number of users downloaded the app. Within a short period, this native messaging app quickly reached the top, but current data indicates that its initial enthusiasm has waned, and the app is gradually losing its appeal.

Lack of Security Features Raises Concern

Users' primary concern revolves around the absence of end-to-end encryption on Arattai. This feature has long been available on platforms like WhatsApp, but it is currently not present on Arattai. As questions regarding security intensified, many users have reduced their usage of the app.

The company has stated that work is underway on end-to-end encryption, and the feature will be launched soon. Experts believe that the app's situation could improve once security features are enhanced, but for now, its ranking is in a declining phase.

Initial Surge, Now Declining Appeal

After its launch, Arattai benefited from being a domestic app and was widely downloaded as an alternative to WhatsApp. The campaign to support local apps also significantly boosted this platform. However, over time, user interest seemed to decline, and the pace of downloads and active users slowed down.

Industry experts state that competition in the messaging app segment is very tough, and b technical features along with better privacy levels are essential to sustain in it. Arattai now needs to strengthen its services and features to regain user trust.
