Millions of devotees took a holy dip in the Ganga at Tigridham on Kartik Purnima 2025, earning spiritual merit. From early morning, huge crowds gathered at the ghats, and the entire area resonated with chants of "Har Har Gange." After bathing, people roamed the fair, made purchases, and enjoyed traditional delicacies. According to the administration, the number of devotees this year was higher than last year.
Kartik Purnima Snan 2025: On the occasion of Kartik Purnima on Wednesday, a grand display of devotion was witnessed at Tigridham in Uttar Pradesh, where millions of devotees arrived from early morning to take a holy dip in the Ganga. Amidst the continuously growing crowds at the ghats, chants of "Har Har Gange" and "Jai Ganga Maiya" echoed. The administration stated that approximately 25 to 30 lakh devotees arrived this year, and adequate police force was deployed for security arrangements. After bathing, devotees indulged in shopping at the fair, the Meena Bazaar buzzed with activity, and people were seen savoring traditional delicacies.
Crowds gathered at the ghats, chants echoed
For the Kartik Purnima bath, a huge crowd was visible at Tigridham from dawn. Devotees continuously moved towards the Ganga banks, and long queues formed at the temporary ghats created for bathing. Particularly at the ghat opposite Sadar, the crowd was immense, where the bathing ritual continued without a pause.
The religious atmosphere on the banks of the Ganga was at its peak. The chants of "Har Har Gange" and "Bam Bam Bhole" made the atmosphere devotional. Many devotees performed 'Deepdan' (offering lamps) after bathing and performed puja with their families. During this time, a heavy police force remained deployed for security and order.

Historic Tigri Fair and the hues of traditions
The Tigri Fair, held on the occasion of Kartik Purnima, is considered one of the largest fairs in North India. The fair had commenced on November 1st, and the main event concluded on Wednesday with the holy bath. Devotees started arriving at the fair from Tuesday night, while the crowd reached its peak from early morning on Wednesday.
Along with bathing, many families also performed the 'Mundan' (first haircut) ceremony for their children, as per tradition. Mundan ceremonies were seen at several locations near the Ganga banks, where people were completing rituals according to their religious beliefs.
Meena Bazaar abuzz, aroma of delicacies
After bathing, devotees visited the fair, and food and beverage stalls everywhere witnessed huge crowds. Long queues were seen at shops selling Samosa-Tikki, Jalebi, Halwa-Paratha, and Chowmein. Stalls offering Softy and Chaat also drew large numbers of young people.
The Meena Bazaar saw a significant presence of women. Shops selling clothes, bangles, and decorative items were continuously busy with customers. The entire market glowed with lights and crowds, and people thoroughly enjoyed their shopping experience.
