Fierce Encounter Underway Between Security Forces and Terrorists in J&K's Kishtwar

Security forces cordoned off the Chhatru area of Kishtwar after receiving information about the presence of terrorists. During the search operation, firing began from both sides. The Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police are jointly conducting the operation, which is still ongoing.

Jammu-Kashmir: A fierce encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists on Wednesday morning in the Chhatru area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kishtwar district. This operation was launched after security forces received confirmed intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area. Following the intelligence input, a joint team of the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation. During this, terrorists opened fire, to which security forces retaliated. Firing continues from both sides, and the operation is progressing.

Operation Launched Based on Intelligence Input

The Army's White Knight Corps confirmed this encounter via a post on social media platform X. According to information, this operation is entirely intelligence-based. Upon receiving intelligence about terrorists hiding, security forces encircled the Chhatru area. During the search operation in the area, direct contact was established with the terrorists, leading to an encounter. The current strategy of the security forces focuses on blocking all possible escape routes for the terrorists.

White Knight Corps' Statement

In its statement, the White Knight Corps stated that during the joint operation, vigilant troops detected terrorists and advanced the operation by responding to firing. The statement also clarified that the operation is still ongoing, and the Army is maintaining full vigilance and control over the situation. The joint role of both the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police is crucial in this operation.

Deployment of Additional Security Forces

Following the confirmation of terrorists hiding, additional security forces have been deployed to the area. The entire region has been cordoned off to prevent terrorists from escaping in any direction. The local administration has appealed to the public, for their safety, not to enter this area and to remain vigilant until the situation is completely normal. This step is also important because the safety of civilians is the top priority during an encounter.

Joint Operation Also Conducted in Kulgam

A day before this encounter, security forces had also located and destroyed old terrorist hideouts in the Kulgam district of South Kashmir. This operation was conducted in the forests of Damhal Hanjipora. Upon receiving intelligence reports about terrorist activity, a team from the Army's 9 Rashtriya Rifles and Jammu and Kashmir Police cordoned off the area. During the search operation, two old hideouts were found, from which various items used by terrorists were recovered. After destroying these hideouts, security forces investigated other potential hiding places in the area.
