Luan-dre Pretorius Shatters 29-Year Record with Sensational ODI Debut Half-Century

After the conclusion of the three-match T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa, a three-match ODI series commenced on November 4, with the first match played in Faisalabad.

Sports Desk: Spectators witnessed thrilling cricket in the first match of the three-match ODI series between Pakistan and South Africa, which began on November 4. Although the South African team suffered a 2-wicket defeat in this match, 19-year-old batsman Luan-dre Pretorius stole the show with his brilliant performance on his ODI debut.

In his debut match, Pretorius proved with his innings that he is a future star of South African cricket. He played a stunning knock of 57 runs, which was also his maiden ODI fifty. With this, Pretorius claimed the record for the youngest South African to score a half-century in ODIs, a record that had stood for 29 years.

Luan-dre Pretorius: Etching His Name in History with a New Record

Luan-dre Pretorius scored 57 runs off 60 balls in the Faisalabad ODI. With this performance, he broke Jacques Kallis' 29-year-old record. Jacques Kallis had scored an ODI half-century against England in 1996 at the age of 20 years and 93 days. Pretorius, on the other hand, achieved this feat at just 19 years and 222 days old.

Prior to this, Pretorius had also debuted in Test and T20 Internationals, and has now recorded a fifty in all three formats. In Test cricket, he also played a century innings across two matches.
